The Big News – It Has Begun!

Folks might remember that I made a note of my intention back in January to submit a short story to Manifesto UF, a short story anthology being edited by author and editor Tim Marquitz, as well as Tyson J. Mauermann, for publication in September. My intended idea for this was to write something with Vikram Chauhan, the protagonist of my urban fantasy novella Dharmayoddha: Warrior of Faith, set in the present day in Mumbai, India. However, before I got to writing the short story , I meant to do two editing passes on the novella so I could properly frame the setting of the short story and have a better idea of what Vikram’s character was like.

Thing is, things didn’t turn out exactly to plan, as I mentioned in this post. My fear was that I had started out too late and that I would not be able to get it done on time.

Sometimes, all you need to have is a little faith (pun intended)! And I suppose that I had plenty of it because the DAY AFTER I submitted the short story, I had a really awesome email waiting in the inbox.

This is what that email said:

Thanks for the wonderful story. I’m glad to report it was well written and interesting on top of being completely different than anything we have in the anthology. That’s a good thing. As such, we’re happy to accept Dharmasankat as a part of Manifesto. Welcome to the book and thanks for the excellent story.

Now that is just awesome. I was actually jumping up and down like a maniac.

And this is the cover for the anthology:

Manifesto UFAnd the list of authors for this anthology goes something like this:

Lucy Snyder, Jeff Salyards, William Meikle, Zachary Jernigan, Betsy Dornbusch, Teresa Frohock, Kirk Dougal, Jake Elliott, Tim Baker, TSP Sweeney, Jonathan Pine, Karina Fabian, Andrew Moczulski, Nick Sharps, Ryan Lawler, Joshua Hill, Lincoln Crisler, Kenny Soward, Adam Millard, J.M. Martin, Abhinav Jain,Wilson Geiger, Rebecca Treadway

That’s my name right there!!

My name!

Yes, I think I can be a bit naively silly for just this once!

The anthology will be released on September 1st, 2013 through Angelic Knight Press.

I don’t really have an idea what else to say, except that this is the start of something truly fantastic. My “soft” vow to get published before I turn 27 has finally been fulfilled (I turn 26 in about a month and some days in change).

Given the success of Dharmasankat, I have full faith that I will eventually be able to get published with the novella Dharmayoddha and the trilogy that I have got planned for Vikram Chauhan.

That’s really all I have for now 🙂

Till next time folks!

  4. Belated Congratulations, man. I’ve been remiss in my blog-reading. That’s a good line-up, and I look forward to picking up a copy and reading your story.
